The wellness of hay

In the Alpine regions the hay bath tradition is as old as hay itself. Certified organic Alpine hay grows on the mountain pastures, from 80 different mountain grasses. The hay baths harmonise all that marvellous vital force from its plant ingredients: a real gift for the skin from nature. Coumarin is a fragranced substance released by hay which, along with ethereal oils (such as tannic substances, lactic acids, provitamins and vitamin D), adds healing properties to the natural remedies of hay. Used by centuries by the rural population as a homemade treatment, grasses such as arnica, mountain camomile, yarrow, veronica and ribwort plantain penetrate the skin during the hay bath.

The high temperature of the hay bath opens the pores thus permitting the active principles to act to the maximum: connective tissue and the autonomic nervous system are stimulated, purified and detoxified. A hay bath stimulates the circulation and helps in cases of rheumatisms, gout, sciatica, muscular tensions and contractions, slipped disc and neuralgia. A further positive benefit: hay baths reinforce the immune system. According to medical observations, even people suffering from hay fever can enjoy the benefits of a hay bath with no problems.
